I don't get it. I don't pay a $1.40 Max ticket and I get busted and now I have to go to court or pay a hefty fine. Also if I'm seen on the max after the 25th I get arrested.
I'm taking this bored cop to court.
Seriously, If I stole a $1.40 item from a supermarket, the most that would happen is I'd have to go to some class.
Since I'm now basically bound to where I can walk, I'm going to start putting up myself for babysitting, house sitting, house cleaning...etc. for my apt complex.
That is until I get this expulsion from the max off my ass. I actually have a good case.

Ah shit, you got caught? That's a bummer. :( The many times I've seen TriMet personnel on the MAX they've rarely asked for tickets.

An arrest sounds awfully harsh. Seriously, with as many people as I know there are who don't pay or haven't paid for MAX tickets....

Hell, and the ticket prices are supposed to rise here real soon by about a quarter.

The cop that caught me was obviously bored and wanted some excitement. It was pretty ridiculous. What's even more sad is I talked to some people afterwards about it, one of them being black and he was stopped- and had no ticket and they arrested him on the spot despite the fact he had no other warning or ticket for it.

$1.40? That's it? Absolutely absurd.

As for stealing that much from a store, you'd get a slap on the wrist and a "Don't do it again."

Any judge with an ounce of sense will throw the case out.
